What is a Swap?

Leaving foreign-exchange positions open for longer than 24 hours creates values for extra payments, called swap. Swap is a type of interest, a fee for the service you are being provided by the broker, it creates a Sharia law major issue for Muslim traders, which prohibits specific financial transactions, mainly those that accumulate interest. Brokers are offering their Islamic finance investors an ‘Islamic account’ to solve this issue.  This type of account is like a normal one, with one main difference; it is not entitled to any extra fees or interest, which is in line with Sharia law’s financial values.
